Project Steering Committee Meeting #1: June 17, 2019

A meeting of the project steering committee was held to kick off the comprehensive plan process! During the meeting a presentation was given to orient the steering committee to the planning purpose and process, their role and responsibilities, review what information we have been able to collect and to discuss the development and implementation of a working community outreach and engagement plan.

Project Ambassador Group Meeting #1: July 31, 2019

The project ambassadors will serve as liaisons between the steering committee and the broader Liberty Township community. A meeting of the project ambassadors was held to kick off their portion of the planning process. During the meeting a presentation was given to orient and educate the group on the purpose of a comprehensive plan. The group also participated in interactive exercises on Liberty Township assets, improvement areas and community barriers.

Project Stakeholder Discussions: July 31, 2019

The project stakeholders are individuals who represent a wide array of community interests including major employers, developers, community organizations, and township leadership. By facilitating one and one interviews and group discussions the project team was able to learn more about the community and the specific opportunities, challenges and trends impacting Liberty Township. The stakeholders were invited to participate in a 90-minute conversation specific to their area of interest.

The second meeting of the project steering committee included a review of community engagement efforts to date and a preliminary look into the existing condition of the community. The group also participated in interactive exercises on Liberty Township assets, improvement areas and community barriers.

Project Stakeholder Discussions (Amended): August 28, 2019

The project stakeholders are individuals who represent a wide array of community interests including major employers, developers, community organizations, and township leadership. Since the July 31, 2019 stakeholder interviews additional efforts have been made to reach all identified community stakeholders. The original stakeholder summary file has been amended with new responses that were collected following the meeting on July 31st. New comments have been added in ‘red’.

Existing Conditions & Asset Mapping Workshop: August 14, 2019

A critical component of the comprehensive plan update is to engage Liberty Township residents. On Wednesday August 14th the first of three public meetings were held at the Lakota Family YMCA from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The meeting included a variety of hands on activities covering existing conditions of the community and future aspirations for development, housing and transportation amenities.

We will be getting feedback throughout the process, but we also encourage you to review our progress on the plan’s final components. We anticipate having some of our initial deliverables available in mid to late summer.

Liberty Township has a comprehensive plan and uses it on a daily basis to direct future growth and plan for infrastructure, community services, trails, parks, and quality of life assets. The 2019 comprehensive plan update will build upon the existing plan to ensure that Liberty Township continues to be an attractive and viable community.
